Gold!

There's nothing quite like the first gold medal we win at an Olympics. I say 'we' because while most of us didn't put in quite the same amount of time and effort as the two guys in the boat, it's still 'our' medal. We made the sacrifice of staying up late to watch the race and then even later to watch the ceremony, we even stood for the National Anthem, such was the pride we took in the moment. We live in the same country, so that makes it ours.
It's very much like that with a school, we meet each day at the same place, we all put our efforts into whatever is going on in the school, each in their own way. And the best part is that our efforts towards the school are somewhat more than those we actually put in to the winning of last nights medal. So we are rightly proud of the school and what it achieves and at Governors Bay there is a lot to be proud of. From the way the children conduct themselves when out and about to the wonderful variety of top quality work they produce to the netball team to the relationships they develop and the way they care for each other in the playground and classrooms.
The exciting thing is that the children we are so proud of now are the very children we may be being proud of for winning 'our' first gold medal at the 2020 Olympics!
