Restore

This week has started to see some real opposition to last weeks announcement re the closing and merging of schools in Christchurch and surrounding areas. It appears to be a hot topic of conversation at the moment and I'm sure we all know someone who is affected. It is encouraging to know that there is a lot of support from education areas across New Zealand. There is a lot of extra stress on staff, students and parents of these schools as they come to grips with the announcements and they need all of the support they can get.
As we are in the 'Restore' category I have a meeting with the Ministry on Monday afternoon to discuss things such as when we might expect the funding for our building improvements to be made available, as it has been frozen since the earthquakes. Knowing that we are staying open and in the same location, it is important that we move ahead with projects like our classroom upgrades as soon as we are able.
