8:15 was a stretch for some but it proved to be very
worthwhile. Kereru spent 45 minutes
chatting on Skype and Edmodo to Caroline Bently School in Illinois, USA. The
questions were many and varied from both classes, topics ranging from sports to
timetables to weather to what had been written on Edmodo to favourite stars.
Our class even sung a Japanese song! One of the students from Caroline Bently
started writing about our Skype on Edmodo while we were skyping, so some of our
class joined in the Edmodo discussion to further enhance the experience. The
end result was a lot of fun with a myriad of interesting information being
passed back and forth.
Photos do not do this session justice but do give you an idea of what was happening.

This is a wonderful example of the power of the technology
we have at our disposal and how it can be used to give a variety of experiences
and enhance learning.
In assembly today I shared a story and then suggested that
tonight everyone write a list of everything that is good about them that won’t
change no matter what anyone says.
I also asked them to share it with someone when it is done so you might
want to ask to see their list and discuss it with them to reaffirm what they have
written or suggest things they have missed out.
